More Tour Dates, with an Improved Opening Act

Bon Jovi has announced more dates at the Meadowlands. (I picked up the news off NorthJersey.com, but it’s been posted in a bunch of places.)

I passed on the first round of Meadowlands tickets, mostly because I’m not a big fan of outdoor venues. It’s one thing if the ticket is only $15 and it rains but the show goes on anyway; it’s another thing when that ticket is $50 or more. And I really, really hate being out in the rain. I hate being cold and damp. But this time around, I may have to re-evaluate.

If you’ve read my older post on Bon Jovi’s choice in opening acts, you know I’m not enthused with the prospect of getting to see Dashboard Confessional. (I don’t mind their songs, but my mind wants to make them over into proper metal songs. I can’t help it. My inner producer keeps yelling “Scream more! It needs more rage!” whenever I hear a Dashboard Confessional song.) However, Kid Rock is a whole different story. Maybe not my first suggestion when it comes to opening acts, but definitely way more awesome than Dashboard Confessional.

If I do go to one of the Meadowlands shows, Kid Rock would officially be the most awesome opening act I have ever experienced. Especially with opening for Bon Jovi. (The only downside is that Kid Rock by default rocks harder than pretty much every song on The Circle.) But I have a feeling that a lot of the songs on The Circle will improve greatly when performed live–they should have more energy, and a lot of the overproduction that marred them won’t be a factor when they’re performed live.

We are all holding out hope that Kid Rock will be the opening act in Detroit – any chance that he will be part of the show 3/17?
