Well, the holidays are finally over, and I’ve got some free time again. That means that I’ll be able to get back to writing some posts for this blog again. I know I skipped last week’s posts. My bad.

I fully intend to finish my review of the Live from London DVD– I really don’t have that many songs left to go on it. But I’m afraid that I have to put the blog on hiatus until after the holidays again this year.

I will still try to post as often as I can, but I can’t guarantee a schedule for the rest of the month.

So, since the tour is coming to an end, I figured I’d start doing a few more full album reviews of Bon Jovi’s albums like the one that I did back when The Circle came out. Going through the albums song by song is something that I haven’t done in a long while, and I figure it ought to be fun.

Rather than just picking albums at random, I figured I’d see if anyone was interested in anything specific. If there’s an album that you want to see reviewed, just leave a comment on this post.

I realize that new posts have been a bit sparse around here for the last week or so. Between family, the holiday, and a chance to go to the beach last weekend, I just haven’t had time to write anything.

I couldn’t turn down a weekend at the beach. The beach in New Jersey was pretty much where my love for Jovi was completely finalized. (Can’t escape the boys when you’re down there; they’re on the radio ALL THE TIME.)

I love the beach. I won’t apologize for that. But I will apologize for cutting out without leaving a post for Friday.

A little clean-up

This blog is approaching two years old, so I’ve been cleaning up a bit and re-organizing. Unfortunately, some of the clean-up went a bit wrong earlier tonight. I apologize if anybody happened to stop in during the middle of it. (I had to temporarily reset the theme to the WordPress default until I could fix some of the mistakes I’d made in the regular theme.)

I did finally clean up the holiday posting schedule notice–only three months late.

Quick Fix

Evidently the ‘Related Posts’ links at the bottom of some of the blog posts have been throwing ‘Access Denied’ errors when you click on them. Just a quick funny to share…

Merry Christmas

Just a quick post to let everyone reading know that the blog is officially on hiatus for the holidays. Regular posting will resume sometime after January 1st. Until then, there may be posts if I see something cool and have time to put it up. In all probability, I won’t have time to put it up. The family has declared that they are descending on me for Christmas, I haven’t finished my Christmas shopping, and the blasted Xbox has chosen NOW to start blinking the Red Ring of Death at me.

In short the next week and a half will be spent running around malls, wrapping, scrubbing the entire house and cooking. And doing all that while listening to the hold music from Microsoft Support, I figure.

But Christmas Day should be gorgeous. Straight out of Norman Rockwell. Well, if Norman Rockwell painted Christmas scenes that included ‘A Christmas Story’ playing on the TV in the background and came accompanied by the sound effects from various people electing to test out their new presents by holding an impromptu LAN party. Last year my brother and I managed to make everyone over the age of 30 in the room motion-sick by hooking his laptop up to my parents’ big-screen TV and taking turns playing Portal.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all. If you’re all prepared, sit back and enjoy the holidays. If you’re not, I wish you the best of luck navigating the holiday parking lots.

This should make it easier to browse by artist, since the tags in the sidebar only show the artists that get written about the most. This list will be maintained to include a listing for everyone.

Brought a cold home from vacation

I spent last week on vacation in New Jersey, and came home late Saturday night with a cold. My brother shared. Like I needed a reminder of why I don’t miss living with my family most of the time.

Interestingly enough, my old nemesis, Percussion Freaks, has been retired and replaced with a Guitar Hero machine.

I didn’t even know they made Guitar Hero arcade machines.
The machines are blasted expensive.
($1 for one song? You’ve got to be kidding.)
Average arcade-goers in New Jersey evidently are not very good at Guitar Hero.
(Seriously. I can’t make it all the way through the Hard tour on GH3 and the one time I played, I left the second highest score on Cliffs of Dover. On Medium. And I’m out of practice because I’ve been playing Fable.)

Defeated by Percussion Freaks

I’m back from my weekend at the shore in New Jersey. In classic New Jersey fashion, the weather was beautiful until I got on the Atlantic City Expressway, at which point it started raining, and it kept it up off and on all weekend. Yesterday was actually decent, for the most part, except for the wind, which tended to turn walking on the boardwalk into a rather cold business.

Due to the rain, I ended up taking refuge in one of the arcades near the motel. It had the Percussion Freaks 3rd Mix machine, which–wonder of wonders–has a Bon Jovi song other than Wanted, Prayer or Bad Name. It actually had Bad Medicine.

The problem?

One, I’m rhythmically challenged, and have problems handling the drums in Rock Band, which I can play for free (unlike arcade games). Two, Percussion Freaks looks like it’s based on Rock Revolution–and you don’t realize how much of an improvement the distance/perspective view of the track in Guitar Hero and Rock Band is until you play a game that doesn’t have it. Percussion Freaks, like Rock Revolution, just has a vertical scrolling track. It makes it much harder to anticipate upcoming notes.

The end result of all this was that I failed out, miserably and repeatedly. I ended up having to give up on Bad Medicine and I moved up the boardwalk to the next arcade and switched to pinball. I’m good at pinball, at least.
