It occurred to me today that I never did a post about this song and video. I’m not sure why I never did. I checked the blog posts from back when it was first released for Lennon’s birthday back in October, and I think I missed it during the excitement over the new Greatest Hits tracks from Bon Jovi.

‘Let Me Hear You Scream’ Video Review
Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011After I had reviewed the video for Ozzy’s song ‘Let It Die’ last week, I realized that I hadn’t reviewed the video for ‘Let Me Hear You Scream’, which had been released earlier. So I went over to Ozzy’s site and watched the video.

Ozzy and Slash Pics from House of Blues
Wednesday, January 12th, 2011Monsters and Critics has a photo gallery of Ozzy and Slash from the House of Blues in Hollywood. I couldn’t resist taking a closer look, since these are two of my favorite rock stars. (Ozzy’s work is just plain great, and Slash is my second favorite guitar player after Richie.)

Album Review: Scream
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010Ozzy is one of the undisputed legends of metal, and I’ve long enjoyed Ozzy’s stuff. This new album seems to be a solid addition to Ozzy’s catalog.
Scream certainly starts off strong with ‘Let it Die’ and ‘Let Me Hear You Scream’. Both are good, solid metal songs, bringing all of the hard, heavy sound that you’d expect from Ozzy. ‘Let Me Hear You Scream’ is an especially good one to rock out to.
The ballads on this album are another highlight. ‘Time’ especially takes advantage of Ozzy’s unique vocal style to produce a unique song that only Ozzy could have delivered properly. (That being said, if you don’t care too much for Ozzy’s voice, this wouldn’t be your cup of tea. ‘Time’ really showcases Ozzy’s vocals more than the other songs do.)
Some of the other songs later in the album are a bit weak, and less memorable than the first few tracks. I found that ‘I Want It More’ and ‘Latimer’s Mercy’ just weren’t in the same class as the first couple of songs that I mentioned above. But the stronger tracks more than make up for these deficiencies.
All together, I don’t think that this is going to be a ‘classic’ Ozzy album. However, I think it’s a a very solid album. And it definitely has a bunch of good songs on it.

Studying Ozzy’s Genes
Friday, June 18th, 2010The Early show reported that Ozzy Osbourne’s genes are being studied by scientists.
There has to be something to this idea. It has always seemed like rock stars go one of three ways–either the band breaks up and they get out, they die young, or they hang on forever. (Just look at Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, and the Rolling Stones.) If a scientist is going to do a study of the genetics that contribute to longevity, focusing on the survivors of rock and roll is probably going to lead to some pretty interesting results.
I just wonder what conclusions that they’re going to draw from analyzing Ozzy’s genetics. It’s rather frightening to consider that the next miracle drug–perhaps the salvation of humanity during some future pandemic–could be derived from Ozzy Osbourne.

Brutal Legend Track List Released
Monday, August 10th, 2009The track listing for Brutal Legend has been released. You can read the entire list at Metal News.
It appears to be an interesting mix of music, including a decent selection of Ozzy’s work, both with and without the rest of Black Sabbath. There’s also a fair amount of Judas Priest included in the list. The number of Priest and Sabbath songs is pretty much what I expected, when you consider the sizable roles that both Ozzy and Rob Halford play in the game. It’s not surprising that they would both allow their music to be used in the game, since they’re already so involved.
Lita Ford got a song included as well. However, like Ozzy and Halford, she was already involved with providing voice talent for the game. So including Lita’s work isn’t a surprise either.
What’s more surprising is the number of hair metal songs on the list. There’s a fairly large number of Motley Crue songs, as well as songs by Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Ratt and Skid Row, all of which could be considered hair metal. (Skid Row and Motley Crue probably get a pass on being hair metal for this game, since most of their work tends to be quite heavy by regular hair metal standards.)
And of course, Tenacious D’s The Metal is included. I would have been highly disappointed if this song had been excluded. Not only is it Jack Black’s group, it was pretty much a readily made theme song for the game.

More Brutal Legend Gameplay
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009Destructoid has another Brutal Legend gameplay demo video.
You might be well-advised to skip this (and the video) if you’re at all spoiler-conscious. This video does give away a lot, even more than the last one. I’m actually kind of sorry I watched it, and usually I’m not big on avoiding spoilers.
The post continues, with spoilers and all, after the jump.

Looks like they did cut Dio
Monday, June 15th, 2009Well, Destructioid confirmed that they cut Dio from Brutal Legend to appease Ozzy. I’m not surprised, just disappointed. I’m not sure how they can make a metal game and cut the Voice of Metal out of the game!
They should have cut Ozzy out before cutting Dio. Ozzy doesn’t seem to be interested in metal anymore, just making lame cell phone commercials.
Somebody needs to break it to Ozzy; BlackBerry phones aren’t metal. And the Samsung Jack commercial just makes me cringe.
All that being said, Tim Curry probably isn’t a bad choice to replace Dio, if they really felt that they had to. I don’t know about now, but he used to have a really good voice. (Speaking as a veteran attendee of midnight showings of Rocky Horror, that movie would not be what it is without him. I know it destroyed his career as a ‘serious actor’. But a legacy is a legacy, and that movie is going down in history as a classic.)
The fact that they compromised what was looking to be one of the coolest video games ever to appease Ozzy’s stupid feud is just lame.
